The Dome, Edinburgh

Well, this was a tricky one…

It had been noted during previous electrical works in Why Not nightclub below The Dome , Edinburgh that the existing main panel board which supplies both The Dome and Why Not was beginning to fail and was limiting future expansion. After consultation with the client it was agreed that it would have to be replaced at the earliest opportunity which in turn led to a brilliant effort from start to finish by our team.

With The Dome being one of Edinburgh’s most prestigious and popular restaurants there was a lot of planning involved with regard to the temporary supplies required all over the premises for fridges, freezers, fire alarms and its full CCTV and security system which all had to be kept on throughout the works and made for a complex switch over to a temporary distribution board fed from the basement.

We were given a two week window from shut down to re-energise of newly installed panel board and in this time we replaced the full panel board, three new sub mains cables to various distribution boards around the premises. The team worked round the clock on various shifts and we are very proud to say we made the deadline and handed the building back to the client fully installed, tested and most importantly on time.

To date one of our most demanding projects with regards to time constrictions but also one of the most satisfying on completion.

Client: Caledonian Heritable

Project Duration: 2 weeks
